Biosun’s Solutions for MS Treatment
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Imbalance while walking, tremors, gait instability, dizziness, sudden limb movements, lack of body coordination, and weakness are among the factors that prevent individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) from participating in social activities. MS is an inflammatory disease in which the myelin sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. Although the exact cause of the disease is unknown, the primary mechanism involves damage by the body’s own immune system or a malfunction in the cells that produce the myelin sheath. The causes of this disease include genetic factors and environmental factors such as infections.
Sunrif®
Although there is no cure for the complete recovery from MS, treatment and proper care can reduce MS attacks and slow the progression of the disease. Molecules called Interferons exist in the body that make cells resistant to viral attacks and can act against them. At least three different types of human interferons have been identified, which are categorized into Alpha, Beta, and Gamma based on their antiviral, anti-growth, and natural killer cell activation effects. Today, recombinant Interferon Beta is produced in two hosts—mammalian and bacterial—known respectively as Interferon Beta-1a and Interferon Beta-1b.
Sunrif is the brand name for the drug Interferon Beta-1a (liquid form), which is produced in Iran by Biosun Pharmed as a biosimilar medication. This drug was previously available in the market under the name Actorif. Currently, patients under insurance coverage can receive Sunrif by paying only 5% to 10% of the cost after going through the medical commission and receiving drug approval. Otherwise, it can be obtained at the open-market price or under the supervision of charitable associations.
